HTML5 Web Console Guide & Troubleshooting

VMMakers Native HTML5 Web Console & Troubleshooting Guide

The VMMakers web console allows clients to access their virtual machine display directly in their browser using HTML5 Canvas and secure WebSockets. No browser plugins or external VNC viewers are required.

1. Web Console Functionality (WMKS):

The console establishes an encrypted, low-latency stream between the client browser and the ESXi host. Special key combinations such as Ctrl + Alt + Del can be transmitted with a single click.

2. Common Error Resolutions:

  • No free IP found in pool: Indicates that all IP addresses defined in the ESXi IP Pool have been assigned. To resolve, add additional IP ranges in the VMMakers IP Pool manager.
  • WebSocket connection to wss://... failed: Indicates the browser cannot establish an encrypted WebSocket connection. Verify that TCP port 443 and 902 on your ESXi host are reachable and not blocked by intermediate firewalls.
  • Datastore capacity exceeded: The target datastore has insufficient free disk space. Enable Thin Provisioning or expand the datastore volume.
  • Guest OS not responding: Verify that VMware Tools / open-vm-tools is installed and running inside the virtual machine.
